Officially Set

The Steiermark taxi rate was officially set on 1 janvier 2025. Taxi tariffs in Austria are officially set by cities or districts. The taxi tariff Steiermark was last set in janvier 2025 and published in the official tariff ordinance. It is binding for all taxis and taxi companies within the compulsory driving area and may not be exceeded or undercut. This is ensured by officially calibrated taximeters installed in the taxis.

How the fare is made up under the Steiermark taxi rate:

The Steiermark taxi tariff sets clear rules for how taxi rides are charged. When you take a taxi between Monday and Saturday from 6:00 am to 8:00 pm, the day tariff applies. Each trip starts with a base fare of €5.00. For distance, the fare is €2.90 per kilometer for the first 5 kilometers. For each kilometer beyond the first 5 kilometers, the fare is €2.80 per kilometer.

If you travel by taxi during the night, from Monday to Saturday between 8:00 pm and 6:00 am, or anytime on Sunday, the night tariff applies. The base fare for all trips is €5.00. For the first 5 kilometers, the fare is €3.30 per kilometer. After the first 5 kilometers, the rate returns to €2.80 per kilometer for any additional distance.

In addition to distance-based charges, the Steiermark taxi tariff includes a waiting time fee. If the taxi needs to wait during your ride, the charge is €34.00 per hour. This waiting time fee is the same during the day and at night.

This structure ensures that passengers can easily understand how their trip will be calculated. The total cost of a taxi ride is based on the starting fee, the distance traveled, and any additional waiting time, all according to the rules of the Steiermark taxi tariff.
