How the fare is made up under the Mumbai taxi rate:
The Mumbai taxi tariff outlines how taxi fares are calculated for passengers. The fare depends on both the time of day and the distance traveled. There are two time rates: a daytime rate from 5:00 am to midnight, and a night rate from midnight to 6:00 am.
During the daytime, the minimum charge for a taxi journey is Rs 28.00. This base fare includes the first 1.50 kilometers of your trip. For every additional kilometer beyond 1.50 km, you will be charged Rs 18.66 per kilometer. If the taxi is stopped or moving slowly, a waiting charge of Rs 120.00 per hour applies.
During the night period, from midnight to 6:00 am, the initial base fare is Rs 35.00 for the first 1.50 kilometers. After this distance, each additional kilometer is charged at Rs 23.33. The waiting charge remains the same as the daytime rate, at Rs 120.00 per hour.
To calculate your total fare, combine the base fare for the relevant time period with the distance charge for any extra kilometers traveled, and add any applicable waiting charges. This way, you can easily understand your taxi fare in Mumbai before you begin your journey.
